Privacy Policy — OuchMoney

1. Who We Are

OuchMoney is a personal finance app developed by Jubal Jacob ("we," "us," or "our"). If you have questions about this policy, contact us at our support page or email jjmcoding31@gmail.com.

2. Data We Collect

Information you provide

Profile data — your preferred name, profession, age, city, monthly income, debt details, savings goals, and freedom target year. You enter this during onboarding to personalize your roasts and ouch cards.
Financial documents — bank statements, credit card statements, receipts, invoices, or any other financial documents you upload. These are sent to Google's Gemini AI for processing and returned as structured expense data.
Transaction context notes — short notes you add to individual transactions (e.g. "had friends over," "stress-bought this"). These are stored and used to personalize roast content.
Account information — if you sign in with Apple, we receive your Apple ID, display name, and email address (if you choose to share it). This is used to link your data to your account for iCloud sync.

Information collected automatically

Location (coarse) — during onboarding we request location access to detect your city. Only the city name is stored; precise coordinates are never saved or transmitted.
Usage counts — the number of imports and roasts you've performed is stored locally on your device (Keychain) to enforce free-tier limits. This is not transmitted to our servers.
Subscription status — managed by Superwall. Your subscription state is used to gate premium features.

3. How We Use Your Data

To generate AI-powered ouch cards and roast sets personalized to your spending
To sync your expenses and profile across your devices via Firebase Firestore (when signed in)
To classify and categorize your transactions
To calculate financial metrics (work hours, freedom days, opportunity cost) shown in ouch cards
To gate access to premium features based on subscription status

We do not use your data for advertising, sell it to third parties, or use it to build profiles for any purpose other than delivering OuchMoney's features to you.

4. Third-Party Services

OuchMoney uses the following third-party services that may process your data:

Google Firebase & Gemini AI

We use Firebase Firestore to sync your profile and expense data across devices. We use Google's Gemini AI API to process uploaded financial documents and generate roast content. Your financial documents and profile data are sent to Google's servers for processing. Google's privacy policy applies: policies.google.com/privacy.

Superwall

We use Superwall to manage our paywall and subscription flows. Superwall may collect anonymized usage and interaction data related to paywall events. Superwall's privacy policy: superwall.com/privacy.

Apple

5. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored in Firebase Firestore (Google Cloud infrastructure) when you are signed in. Data is encrypted in transit using TLS and at rest by Firebase's default encryption. Locally, usage stats are stored in your device's secure Keychain.

Uploaded financial documents are sent to Gemini for processing and are not permanently stored by OuchMoney beyond the processed expense records.

6. Data Retention

Your data is retained in Firestore as long as your account exists. If you delete the app without signing in, all data is stored locally on your device only and is removed when you delete the app. To request deletion of your Firestore data, contact us at our support page.

7. Children's Privacy

OuchMoney is not directed at children under 17. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 17. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal data we hold about you. To exercise these rights, contact us via our support page. We will respond within 30 days.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
